Sight Fishing on the Fall River

If you're ever up in Central Oregon, a trip to the Fall River is a must. Its an 8-mile long spring creek tributary of the Deschutes River. About mid way up the river is the Fall River fish hatchery, a cool facility to check out. These trout a gorgeous but picky, they get a lot of pressure and the water is crystal clear.

Here is one of the springs at the head waters. The River literally just bubbles up out of the ground here.

There are lots of weed beds which provides excellent habitat for aquatic insects.

The volcanic rock in the area creates realy deep pools where the lunkers lurk.

There is downed timber everywhere. If you're paying attention, there is usually a rainbow under every log.

That is sweet habitation. So much river and so little time.
