When it freezes really hard, fishing is darn right tough. The slack water they're holding in has anchor ice. It forms exactly in the soft water where the fish hold. Its hard to find water that is slow enough to hold fish but not frozen. Only one chubby little bow sipping on a sparse population of midges, but by no means a wasted day!
